AXP – The Giro

Like the Tour de France workout that we did a couple weeks ago, the Giro is another cycling focused workout. I was unable to get a photo of the workout board as it was erased prior to the end of the workout. Here is what I sort of remember.

Stage 1

– 3 Minutes averaging 100 rpm
– 25 kcals as fast as possible
– Five planks rolling from front -side – front – other side – front

– After the cycling was finished we had a plate workout consisting of 10 overhead plate presses and 10 plate squats. We completed four cycles of these exercises.

Once we finished that  we moved back to the bikes for Stage 2. Which was a blur of climbs.

We then finished up with Stage 3 which consisted of :

– 3 Minutes averaging 100 rpm
– 25 kcals as fast as possible
– Five planks rolling from front -side – front – other side – front

Without the photo of the workout board to work off of, all I can really remember is that it was hard. The time of the 25 kcals was the measureable, which I completed in about 1:27 on the first attempt and 1:35 on the second.

The added catch to this workout today was that I plugged in as a spare for batting practice with Nicole Luchanski again.¬† Due to time constraints we actually did this prior to the workout instead of after, so this was a pregame warm up. I also hadn’t planned for it, so I had to borrow one of Nicole’s spare gloves which was a little smaller than I am used to. We started with some fielding practice (over the shoulder catches) and then once we wrangled up an extension cord we went through batting practice (fastballs, sliders, curveballs).

The combination of the pre-workout and main workout, meant I was completely spent by the end of the day. Good thing it was the weekend.
